This site is really get a lot of uses. A new use is to review CDs that my teachers throw at me as assignments. The first one of that type is the Ken Burns Jazz Collection: Louis Armstrong. I listened to it backwards because my iTunes liked to do that so it was like listening to Satch devolve as a musician. That was interesting to listen to because what you just listened to was revealed on the next track. His solo’s were drastically different than anyone elses solos on the album. Plus, his voice was great. Now, granted this is a “best of” CD there wasn’t very many downsides to this album. But because I am trying my best to not just throw out a perfect score to just anything. The fact is, I wasn’t throwing a party over this CD. I can’t really recommend this to someone who isn’t already versed in jazz. It is far too aged and campy and unfortunately, there is not much you can to without totally messing with it to make it relateable. So, if you love jazz, this is a great way to discover Armstrong. If you are new to jazz, pass this album and try something more relateable and newer before you delve into the older bin. This album gets an 8.7/10
